Sam Berne O.D.
Dr. Sam Berne is a licensed optometrist in New Mexico and Hawaii with over four decades of clinical experience. He received his Bachelor of Science from Penn State University, his Doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, and completed postdoctoral training at the Gesell Institute in Child Development.
His work now focuses on the intersection of vision, nervous system regulation, and embodied perception — exploring how stress, trauma, and modern environments reshape sensory experience.
Drawing from neuroscience, developmental vision, and phenomenology, Dr. Berne helps individuals understand how perception is biologically organized and how it can be restored through awareness, movement, and nervous system regulation.
He has served as faculty at the Esalen Institute, conducted clinical research, and authored seven books. Six of these focus on health and vision education, and his most recent book, *Beyond the Lens: The AI Visionary Playbook for Entrepreneurs and Business Leaders*, is currently available on Amazon:
