Meryl Fury, MS, RN, has been a public health nurse for more than 30 years, specializing in nurse leadership and supporting the health of vulnerable and under-resourced populations. She worked in Federally Qualified Health Centers before retiring to follow her true calling in Food As Medicine. She holds a certification in plant-based nutrition by eCornell and studies the use of whole plant foods for health. Meryl is Pres/CEO of Plant Based Nutrition Movement (PBNM), https://pbnm.org/ , a non-profit in the Chicagoland area. where the focus is educating our most at-risk populations about the lifesaving benefits of diet and nutrition. In her role at PBNM, she creates and delivers projects to educate about healthy plant-based eating. Meryl founded and leads the 6 Million Seeds Child Nutrition Project, and Podcast, and she co-founded MorePlantsOnPlatesUSA. These initiatives address the gross inadequacies in the way we feed children. Culinary Medicine 4 Sickle Cell Warriors, a 4-week WFPB jumpstart for people living with Sickle Cell disease is another active project, currently running in Chicago. 

Under Meryl’s leadership, PBNM collaborates with other non-profits with similar missions. Meryl is a member of the Medical Advisory Board of the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, a Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine Food For Life Instructor, and a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, where she is active in the RN/APRN, and PEDS MIGS. She is also on the leadership team for the ACLM Health Equity Achieved through Lifestyle Medicine (HEAL) Initiative. She presents regularly to groups seeking information on healthy eating patterns, especially for children.
